Waarom “Alex Debot Trophy” ?
Alex Debot (Leuven 1956) begon jong als garagist te Vossem. Met veel werkkracht en ondernemersschap, bracht hij het tot bedrijfsleider van 3 garages te Vossem, Tienen en Leuven.
Als drukbezet zakenman wou hij toch tijd vrij maken om de toestand van minderbedeelden te helpen verbeteren, daarom werd hij in 2003 lid van Lions Club IJsedal Tervuren. Zo was hij voorzitter van de Sociale Commissie die instaat voor de toewijzing van fondsen aan sociale doelen.
Meerdere malen trok hij door Afrika zonder hierbij het sociale doel uit het oog te verliezen. Hij nam schoolmateriaal mee dat hij ter plekke aan de kinderen uitdeelde. In maart 2009 verloor Alex daar het leven door een jammerlijk ongeval.
Alex Debot was één van de pioniers en de drijvende kracht van de Lions Oldtimer Tour. Uit erkentelijkheid voor zijn inzet en als memorie aan onze goede Lionsvriend, kreeg Lions Tervuren Oldtimer Tour de titel “Alex Debot Trophy”.

Pourquoi “Trophée Alex Debot” ?
Alex Debot (Leuven 1956) a commencé jeune en tant que garagiste à Vossem. Avec beaucoup de travail et d’esprit d’entreprise, il est devenu le directeur de 3 garages à Vossem, Tienen et Leuven.
En tant qu’homme d’affaires très occupé, il voulait néanmoins prendre le temps d’aider à améliorer la situation des moins nantis, c’est pourquoi il est devenu membre du Lions Club IJsedal Tervuren en 2003. Il était ainsi président de la Commission Sociale qui est responsable de l’attribution de fonds à des fins sociales.
Il a traversé l’Afrique à plusieurs reprises sans jamais perdre de vue l’objectif social. Il emportait du matériel scolaire qu’il distribuait sur place aux enfants. En mars 2009, Alex a tragiquement perdu la vie dans un accident.
Alex Debot était l’un des pionniers et la force motrice du Lions Oldtimer Tour. En reconnaissance de son engagement et en mémoire de notre bon ami des Lions, le Lions Tervuren Oldtimer Tour a reçu le titre de “Trophée Alex Debot”.

Why “Alex Debot Trophy”?
Alex Debot (Leuven, 1956) started out at a young age as a garage owner in Vossem. Through hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, he became the managing director of three garages in Vossem, Tienen, and Leuven.
Although he was a very busy businessman, he still wanted to make time to help improve the situation of those less fortunate. That is why he joined the Lions Club IJsedal Tervuren in 2003. He went on to chair the Social Committee, which is responsible for allocating funds to social causes.
On several occasions he travelled through Africa, never losing sight of the social mission. He brought school supplies with him and distributed them to children on site. In March 2009, Alex tragically lost his life there in a terrible accident.
Alex Debot was one of the pioneers and the driving force behind the Lions Oldtimer Tour. In recognition of his commitment, and in memory of our dear Lions friend, the Lions Tervuren Oldtimer Tour was given the title “Alex Debot Trophy”.
